It begins as a peaceful day of snorkeling—until you suddenly find yourself at the edge of a breathtaking yet dangerously deep ocean reef. Vibrant coral, twisting seaweed, and swaying anemones surround you as a shark silently glides past a shipwreck lurking in the shadowy depths below.
This escape-themed piano series transforms musical navigation into an exciting adventure! Each late-elementary piece challenges students to carefully follow score markings—such as repeat signs, D.C. al Fine, and D.S. al Coda—to successfully escape the scenario. This six-piece series progresses sequentially, with each piece building on the navigational skills learned in the previous one. Designed as a fun, game-like experience, it invites both student and teacher to step inside the music, explore its unfolding adventure, and reinforce essential score-reading skills in an engaging and interactive way.
As the first piece in the series, Escape Repeat Reef reinforces the usage of the repeat sign. It also features ties, sustain pedal, playing an octave higher with both hands, and long fermatas, which together create a mysterious underwater atmosphere.
