Nocturne
Nocturne is a beautiful Romantic Era style solo that is lyrical and musically expressive. It features tender melodic voicing in the right hand, gentle arpeggiated accompaniments in the left hand, and rubato tempos that enhance its delicate nature. This piece contains subtle key changes which move the pianist effortlessly, and almost unnoticeably, through several different key signatures.
While composing this piece, I was fascinated with the emotional depth that could be created by simply two notes playing simultaneously. I used this element almost entirely throughout the piece. Nocturne captures the quiet and reflective mood of the evening hours, and will become a peaceful and refined addition in your music collection.
