In some places of the world the month of January can be very cold and bleak. This melancholy piece reflects these emotions with an expressive and longing right hand melody that represents the solitude of winter. Steady supporting chords in the bass clef are reminiscent of the subtle and slow rhythmic dripping of melting ice. Although most of this piece expresses a loneliness and sadness, a brief transition to F Major in the middle leads to a key change and a hopeful ending.
